Ip Man 葉問

Ip Man, who is he?

He is the superhero in superhero comic series and video game.
IP Man was conceived in the mid-1970's by a little known entity named DARPA. DARPA was a wise but unseen body who wanted to help the world exchange information between computer system at research institutions. IP Man began his quest to unite computers and dissimilar devices in the late 1970's. Today, he works night and day, reducing LD minute rates and guarding against irritating Noise, Jitter and Echo.   -- from http://www.ipmanadventures.com/

Wow! It should be favored by most nerds who like computer science and sci-fi (like Vineeth.)

====================WHAT THE HELL IS THIS??=========================

Let's watch some old clips first, and then figure who on earth Ip Man is?

Come on Michael, that is Bruce Lee.

Yeah, exactly, the man in clips is Bruce Lee, the super martial art hero icon from Hong-Kong. I think everyone knows him very well. Ahhh-Dahhhh. He is the fonder of the famous martial art system: Jeet Kune Do 截拳道, which emphasizes "practicality, flexibility, speed, and efficiency," and is the main martial art type played in his movie.

So, who is Ip man?
Left: Ip man; Right: Bruce Lee
Left: Bruce Lee; Right: Ip Man
Ip Man (or Yip Man) is the master of Bruce Lee, and the first master who started to teach what he learned from his master publicly, the Wing Chun 詠春, which means, in Chinese, forever spring.

Let's look how the Wing Chun is played.

The tutorial of Wing Chun.

Demonstrated by Ip Man and his son.

Bruce Lee's movie again.

In the movie, "Ip Man", Ip man challenges 10 Japanese Karate students in front of Japanese Army General.

Final theme. Battle between Ip Man and the General.

Fascinating!! That's why I want to see "Ip Man 2" sooooooo much.

ROMA 1/4 -- the Italy Trip Day 2

I opened this edit page and started to browse and chat for more than 1 hour.  :P
======================================================

The second day, nice weather and sunshine woke me up in the morning 8am.
This is my breakfast, palm-size pizza. I bought six of them. Yummy and cheap.
Today my top and first itinerary was to visit the Vatican city, the smallest state, or country, in the world. I woke up early and tried to be an early bird to stay away from the stupid queue. However...
it had already had a long queue there in front of the entrance. I didn't want to ruin my mood just at the beginning of the day and my other itinerary, I skipped this spot.

Next: the Vatican cathedral, Basilica di San Pietro!
Crap!! Another queue. But the Piazza San Pietro is really magnificent!

There's a Vatican post office in the piazza, the only post office in Vatican city and of course it delivers your post card with Vatican stamps. So this is the best place to go in Vatican actually, and no need to stay in queue (important.)
Police horses
Walking straight down from the front of the Vatican city, here we come to the Castel Sant Angelo.
the Castel
Turn around to see the Piazza San Pietro
The angle standing at the top!
Up to now, I was out of water. I NEED WATER. I was one percent lacking of water in my body, 69%.
Smile :)
Supplement completed. I kept walking for the Piazza Navona, which was a bit hidden in the street blocks thus was hard to find. So, once I found it, I felt like I won in the treasure hunting game.
I really enjoyed the band playing in the Piazza.
Not far away from Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, the temple for all gods built in 27 B.C., still stands still there in Roma, but handicapped. :(
Hot girls sun-bathing in front of the Pantheon. They were really hot.
It was about 25 degree in Roma, no kidding. The weather was indeed nice and so my mood was. Especially when there were a bunch of hot, young European and American girls around you. This is definitely where I park my car. Ok, back to Roma, I next went to Piazza Venezia and Palazzo Venezia, which is built in 1910 in memory of the unification of Italy in 1870.

At the top of the Piazza, I could overlook the best tourism area of Roma, the Mercati Traianei, the Foro Romano, and the Colosseo.

Unfortunately, the ticket is needed to see the Foro Romano, the ruin of the city center of ancient Roma since approx. 600B.C., for €12, but good news is that, it's the same ticket for the Colosseo. They have discount for European citizen, so I thought I could have the discount by showing my Polish resident card; however, the ticket seller didn't read Polish and regarded that as a piece of crap. Crap.
Before
After

Now it was about 5pm only, but I was starving coz I had only 6 palm-size pizza in the morning at 8 all day. I couldn't walk, clear my mind to feel the history of the ruin, even think. Meanwhile, I was eager for peeing as well. So, I quit, and returned back to the host's apartment. Here's how I walked, from Vatican city, about 7 km.
I bought an Italian beer to reward myself, and a small, expensive sandwich. This was not the end of the day. I went out again at 9pm to explore the night life in Roma, BUT, I got lost in the center of the Roma and saw nothing besides railway. D_mn. I ruined my night. I could have stayed in the couch and used the super fast wireless internet provided by my kind English host. And the most sucky thing was that when I went back (at 11pm, finally), I ordered a salami and eggplant pizza. It turned out that the package in my hand was salami and eggplant without pizza bread. F_ck that!

Super Mario Bros. Crossover

Holy smoke. This is what a game should be like.

You can control up to 6 heroes from different classical video games to enjoy the old famous Mario.
From left:

  • Samus Aran - Metroid
  • Link - The legend of Zelda
  • Mario
  • Mega man
  • Simon Belmont - Castlevania
  • Bill - Contra
All of them can do what they can do in their games. I love Mega man.

ROMA 31/3 -- the Italy Trip Day 1

I've planned this trip for more than a month. I've dreamed to go to Italy for more than 10 years. Here I come and here I realize my dream!!! Fly To Italy!!
Actually, this 10-day trip was my first couch surfing experience. I don't want spend any money on accommodation. It's too costly if you travel more than five days. So, I started to find hosts of kindness about one month before the trip. You know, it's the slowest way to kill a person when you search a couch in a certain city and the search engine gives you 100+ results back, you have to click those links one by one, read their profiles, and write them your "sincere" requests under one condition--you have no idea how many is enough for you to find one. Only thing could I do was to spend more than one week to deal with these nasty stuff, especially I was a newbie and a god damn MALE.

Finally, I found 5 days of free couch out of 9 nights.

After the first class in the morning to 10am, I rushed to the Chopina airport right away, skipped the sucky laser class at noon, and reached Roma Fiumicino airport at 14:40.

The first thought outside the airport was...it's as dirty as Taiwan, it's not the Italy, the European country, that I imagined, totally. Second thought, when I saw the coke in the shop, was...FxCK, €2.5 (10pln, NTD$107) for 500ml Coke.

Roma is the capital of Italy. It has the most Roman style buildings and ruins because of the fact that it was also the capital of the Roman Kingdom (753 BC–509 BC), the Roman Republic (509 BC–27 BC), the Roman Empire(27 BC–AD 476.)

Walking from the main station, Roma Termini, heading north, here I came to the Piazza della Repubblica featured a big fountain, Fontana della Naiadi, in memory of the unification of Italy in 1870, and the Santa Maria degli Angeli. I didn't care about the church or cathedral things at all, but I found one interesting thing inside this cathedral. There was a Galileo statue in the cathedral which was designed by the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, Tsung Dao Lee 李政道.
In our science history teaching, I learned that he is the first Nobel Prize winner in my country, Republic of China, known as Taiwan. I expected words like Taiwan and Taiwanese would be written. But....obviously not.
The fact:
Tsung-Dao (T.D.) Lee

CitizenshipRepublic of China
United States (1962–)

Obviously, I was misled by the stupid science history education in Taiwan.

Then I went to Chiesa di Santa Maria della Vittoria,

the Piazza Barberini, where the Fontana del Toritone, and Fontana della Api stand,

the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica (didn't go in),

the Santa Andrea al Quirmale,

the Palazzo del Quirinale,

last but the best, the Fontana di Trevi 許願池.

My first meal in Italy was at a restaurant next to the Trevi fountain. Eating outside the restaurant is totally the European style!! I enjoyed it a lot, the breeze, the people (hot girls of course), and the music. I only ordered a famous Italian dish, fresh ham with Mozzarella, one kind of cheese, or formaggio in Italian, because food here was of course fxcking expensive. It was €7.50, 30pln, NTD$323, and it was probably the cheapest.

After dinner, I went to the Piazza di Spagna, famous of a scene in the movie "Roman holiday", featuring Audrey Hepburn. This is Roma!!

22:00, the time that I had to meet my first couch host, an English. He lives around the cathedral Santa Giovani, teaching English in this city. He was probably the first English I met in my life, his English was so fast that I didn't know what to say to him right away in the conversation coz I needed time to process his words. He changed his mind to let me stay more than one night, which was the original agreement on CouchSurfing website because he said that I looked like a trustworthy person. LUCKY!!
